A Person Who Has Made a Difference

Liu Ming Chuan was born in Hefei, Anhui Province, China in Sep 7, 1836
He was born in a poor family. His father died when he was 11 years old, mother died when he was 20 years old. His mother killed herself because he was a robber and her mother was related to him and the crime he committed.
He moved to Taiwan in 1884, and fought against French Army and keep an eye on rebuilding Taiwan.
In 1864, he builds army in Taiwan. And he build railroad, Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Coal and Mining, and Ministry of Railroad. The first railroad was build from Kee-Lung to Taipei City in 1891, and the first electric cable from Taiwan to Fu-Jian.
In honor of his contribution, we build “Ming-Chuan University” in Taipei and “Ming-Chuan Road” in Kee-Lung.
He died in 1896 at his birthplace due to sickness.
